Think about it this way: at 500mm fl, it will take about 8'' for the
asteroid to travel 20u on the film (star size on E200). So, if you can
reach mag 10 in 5-10sec, you'll probably get a trail. The trick will be to
get the right total exposure just rignt to push the background over the
knee of the film without washing out the asteroid trail - i'd rather use
negative film and the shortest exposure that still brings out the galaxy.
