RE: [APML] monitors

-----Original Message-----

Here's a question for the computer equipment gurus...

The "new" LCD monitors that are becoming more and more popular...would
anyone out there know:
1. How long do they last? Do they have the same life expectency as a CRT
or better perhaps?
2. How well do they represent an image compared to a good CRT monitor? Do
they portray color as accurately?
3. Do they need to "warm up" or are they accurate from the moment that
they are turned on?
Info much appreciated...

My experience with 2 LCDs is
1. I don't know life expectancy but they are fragile, you can easily damage
the screen and ruin elements by pressing or rubbing too hard on it.
2. Absolutely terrible compared to a CRT. Like a projection TV you have to
hold your head just in the right spot to get the best screen illumination,
Color is terrible and can't be calibrated that is why high end calibration
kits are not even made for LCD monitors.
3. No they suck all the time. They are OK for web browsing but not for a
graphics professional.
