Re: [APML] Provia trails

Looks like the best BRC images on Takayuki's website are taken on Kodak Portra 800, which is certainly available in medium format. Portra 800 has spectral sensitivity curves very similar to our "old favorite" Kodak color negative films, and is identical to Supra800. Portra 800 is the only member of the Portra line that has a red snsitivity peak around 650nm. The other Portra films peak at around 620nm. I'm sure it's just Supra 800 marketed as the fastest film in the Portra lineup.

I used Supra 800 for the Leonids last month. Very strong reds, and the grain wasn't too bad for an 800 speed film. In the past I had heard that this film suffered from reciprocity failure, so I hypered a roll for testing with my TV85 last month, but didn't get around to using it. I think you medium format guys should look into Portra 800 as well as Provia 400F.

Bobby,

Takayuki Watanabe in Japan has used Fuji 400 for some of his photos. You can see them on his web page here http://www.seaple.icc.ne.jp/~w-taka/eguidesys.htm

He is also using a BRC-250.
