Thanks Bobby and Matt. The central portion of the image
is about 2 hours of exposure time (luminance and RGB).
The outer portions of the galaxy are composed of frames
with significantly less exposure time. It was alot of work
to attempt to get a "filmlike" FOV for this very extended
galaxy using a small CCD chip.

That's a great CCD shot Rob; obviously a lot of work went into it. How many hours exposure time? I have my best film effort of M101 here:
Your image is clearly better in terms of smoothness, resolution, and star size. I wish we had a good TP tri-color film shot of M-101 to compare with. It will better my color film effort by a substantial amount, but I'm not sure it can reach your image.
