Buy an IDAS filter! The Lumicon is old, and has a heavy magenta cast, I
think. The IDAS is extremely color-neutral and works great for cutting
through light fog. I wouldn't use it at a site worse than 4.5 or 5m, but I
wouldn't do any deep sky shooting from such a site at all. Beyond 5m, it's
great and about doubles contrast.
