I hastily added last night's image showing what may be recent the ion
tail:
Forget the fact that these are CCD images. The comet appears to be
developing an ion tail, the moon is out of the evening sky, and the comet is
getting lower in the south for us northerners...time is running out to get
pictures. I bet the nucleus is bright enough for an ST-4 to guide on...it
was sharp enough for me to use as a focus reference with my Cookbook
CCD. The comet is still moving fast, so if you don't track the comet
you'll get a blurred image.
Tom Krajci PS. My images are north up, east left, and the field of
view is approx. 5 x 8 arcminutes.
