B, V, and R are three of the traditional astronomical filters. Like most
filters you'd find at NOAO, they are not specifically designed to make
pretty pictures, approximate the response of the human eye, etc.
Effective wavelength, FWHM, and transmission curves for the Keck LRIS
approximation to the BVR filters are available from:
