Tim,
         Good attempts. You'll benefit a lot from a more blue sensitive film
and/or hypering and a longer exposure if you can. I got a similar murky
purple on M33 on an old PPF roll, while stacking a hypered LE-400 yielded
the result at the bottom of:

The Pleiades seems to lack any true nebulosity and the existing blue is
posterized. A less than perfect double stack of 45 and 60 min shots are on
the same page. Keep up the good work.
