[APML] and now for something completely different....

Ok, we have all said our piece on the latest round of virus
scares/escallations, so now for something topic relavent....

Every computer printer I have ever owned was a gift from my wife for some
occasion. This Christmas is such an occasion and we got a new Epson Stylus
Photo 785EPX last weekend. Mary had planned to wrap it and put it away
until time to put it under the Christmas tree. However, she decided that
first we needed to try it out by creating several Christmas presents with
it. We did that this weekend.

My last printer was one of Epson's early color inkjets. If you minded the
pixel resolution and image size, it would produce adequate photos if you
were not too picky. With close examination, it was obvious the print was an
inkjet image and nowhere near "photographic". With that experience, I have
always been dubious of the claims that certain new printers have real
photographic quality output.

Well.... let me tell you, I'm a beleiver now. The very first photo out of
this new printer, and the next 20 or so since, have all been dead-on
perfect. Colorwise, resolution, print feel, print look, you name it, I can
not tell the difference between the output of this new Epson and a chemical
darkroom photo. The fantastic results out of this thing on the first try
have flabergasted me.

Whats more amazing is that all four printers Mary has bought me have cost
within pennies of each other, right at $200, first for a 9-pin, then 24-pin,
then a color inkjet, now the photo inkjet.

So... if any of you were on the bubble about deciding on a printer that has
photo capability, I'm here to tell you that pricewise, the Epson Stylus
Photo 785EPX is a steal, and its output is real honest-to-gosh photographic.

Its nice to have a pleasant surprise with the computer once in a while.
