There's a Losmandy group in Yahoo! About 80% of the discussion 
regards the care and oh-so-touchy set up of Gemini on the G-11.  
This might be a resource for the question about a semi-permanent 
mount.  If it were me, I'd check it every time until I was confident that 
the polar alignment was reliable or until I'd proven that I indeed have 
to check it every time.
