[APML]: Less Uneasy

I appreciate the many comments received regarding computer image
processing, which have satisfied most of my questions & concerns.

Since this is a newsletter for FILM astrophotography, it would appear
that most would agree that the "business end" of our work is the film
plane. Any technology that helps create better pictures from image
information in the film emulsion is certainly an advance. And from the
postings, it seems that the image processing practicioners are very
diligent to remain true to the original content of the slide or negative.
Plainly identifying in the photo credits what processing was used
clearly helps.

My initial concern was that unless used judiciously, computer technology
can dull appreciation for the effort and photograpghic skill required to
achieve a given result. I have been in awe of the images on some
of your web pages. I wouldn't want to lose that.
