All very good info. The way you focus the VariMagni finder is by turning
the diopter adjusting ring under the eyepiece. Slip the unit onto the
slots on the OM-1's viewfinder, shine the camera, without a lens on it,
at a bright light and rotate the adjusting ring until the focusing
screen appears as much in-focus as possible.

I believe the pentaprism of the OM-1 itself provides 5x, and with the
2.5x VarMagni finder unit attached you are seeing 12.5x.
