The finder is a nice addition to the OM1, I use mine all the time but 
it is NOT the be-all-end-all for exact focusing that I had hoped for. 
One thing that really helped me was by making a "Hartman mask" out of 
cardboard to use in conjunction with the focuser. (a circle with two 
holes cut out). 

Now, if someone only made an extension of some kind for the 
tiny mirror lockup lever, I'd be even more happy.
