   Actually, the longer the exposure, the less the effect of the shutter 
clapping has on the results.  A larger problem with planetary 
photography is our atmosphere.  Getting a sharp window for the duration 
of a photograph is tough.  Getting good photos of the planets is a real 
battle.  I actually have had some good results lately doing eyepiece 
projection onto EPH1600 at ISO800.  The grain is large, but the 
exposures can be in the 1/8th of a second range and I have snuck the odd 
one in when seeing was steady enough to produce a passable image.  I am 
going to build a shutter that is independent of the telescope completely 
that works in front of the telescope.  That way I will get the sharpest 
possible images.
