It is a Hurst. I don't know about the case and size. I wonder if I could
swap it for an AC through Ed Byers Co. You say it costs about $50. I
don't know if the DC or AC costs more, but maybe I could work something
out with him. Are there any other sources of motors? I looked through
Astromart, but couldn't find anything.
I see a model "ABS". 12V DC. It says Hz 4 1/2, but I think that is the
wattage. There is a P/N (Part Number?) 3008-002 and at the bottom it
says "RED 150 5/93".
The motor is mounted on what I assume is a reduction gear housing. That
housing is screwed to the aluminum block, but I can't see an obvious way
to get to motor off of the housing. Are they a unit?
BTW, it is a floating worm gear. The worm mounting block has 4 slotted
holes, so it shouldn't be too much trouble getting a mounting plate made
up. Being a former machinist, this is a really impressive piece of work.
Can't wait to see what it can do.
If I'm not mistaken, you use an ST-4 to autoguide. How long an exposure
are you able to use with your drive?
I appreciate the help with this. After all I've spent (that I don't
have), $50 isn't going to break me...yet. Close, but not quite.
