[APML]: ST-4 resets
I had a problem whereby the ST-4 would intermittently reset during
operation - just like a power on cycle. Typically it would be during the
first 10-15 mins after power on but frequently happened later, during
guiding. James Janusz experienced a similar problem. This is a known
problem at SBIG and is most likely to be the bridge rectifier.
SBIG responded very well and sent me a new bridge + heatsink (yes, it is
now fitted with a heatsink). I replaced the bridge rectifier last night
and it is now working fine.
If you have this problem and are remote (like me) you may like to know that
the bridge rectifier is a very generic component and should be found at any
good electronic component store. It's rated at 600v 6A and is identical to
the one fitted to the ST-4. You should buy a heatsink for it too. Cost is
about $3 - could save a lot in time and shipping fees.
