[APML]: Looking for a guider CCD
I'm considering to purchase a new CCD to guide my Losmandy G11 mount,
using the self-builded 80/1200 guiding parallel refractor. Reading
through the APML's messages, I think I'll close up to the SBIG ST4 and
Meade Pictor 201XT models. What about these two CCDs? Which one is the
better for autoguiding tasks? How much is the ST4 now? My preference
is a little oriented to the SBIG ST4, considering that it can be used
also for imaging (and I'd like to take some great planetary shots, on
Jupiter and Mars especially). Is it possible to link the ST4 to the
G11's drive? The G11's electronic control box haves a CCD plug, I
know, but does the ST4 have a similar plug predisposed for controlling
the Losmandy's motors?
Another way is to build a CCD from the scratch by myself, but I'd like
to avoid this solution, if possible, 'cause of the time needed.
Help me to solve the question :-)
