[APML]: scanners

My wife came in this afternoon and said "Bobby, lets get a scanner" <Big g>
I replied,"OK, honey, I'll check into it." Now I can't get the best, but I
figure since it was her idea I can go somewhere between $500 and $1000. (Is
that enough for a decent one?) Now I just need some suggestions from you
guys on what might be best for me.  I'll be searching the archives, but I
would appreciate some real time input......
