OK, due to the fact that my dad is constantly asking for progress pics
of my observatory, I actually have been taking pictures so I can send
them to him (this is where a digital camera comes in real handy: no
scanning).
This shot looks to the SE. To the right you can see my current 8' by 8'
obs. The new one is 10' by 16'. To the upper right is the tall pine
that gets in the way of all southerm Milky Way shots until they rotate
clear of it. Further south of that (out of picture to right) is the
#%&!! telephone pole that further blocks southern access. Between these
two I have 40-50 minutes to shoot for objects that don't clear the top
of the pole. M16 and M17 just make it. There are a variety of trees all
around that block certain areas but I took down the worst offenders
this spring. The new obs will improve my angle looking south by several
degrees. This picture is about 3 days old and all I have left is to
install posts and run-off rails. The roof is a 2 section roll-off. We
live in a valley SW of Medford, OR so there are hills, trees, and of
course, fires.
