RE: [APML] Gamma-Cygnus taken with FSQ-106N

John,

I had intended to take two images, but I ran out of time. If I'm
able to get some clear nights this upcoming new moon, I plan to take
some really deep images of this area, mainly with the 300mm. I plan
to take two images at F/4.0: one 105 minute and one 135 minute.
This should really give me some excellent density in the shadows. I
think what really caused my lack of density was two fold. First,
the lab forgot to push the film 1-stop. This really made for a dark
negative. Second, I was exposing incorrectly when pushing the film.
I was halving the exposure time (i.e. something you would do in
normal terrestrial photography, not astrophotography) to compensate
for the extra development. This, of course, results in very bad
shadow density which clearly shows. Now that I have things
straight, my next attempt should be much improved.

Wade
