Hi Dan---thats a whopping big scope for that mount.
I'll put my money on balancing being extremely critical.
Perhaps if you set it up so the motor is bucking against the weight
trying to pull it west you'll have better luck. But only a very little
amount of imbalance---less than a pound or so.
