there are at least two versions of the AP Traveler field flattener.

the newer one works better than the older one

Hi Jerry,

I don't have an answer for your question but I saw something similar on
other AP scopes.  If you are interested, check out astromart forum 
CCD Imaging and Processing/Deep Sky.  On 8/17, Stefan Seip posted
an image of NGC6992 taken by 20Da and AP Traveler with field flattener.
The astigmatism in his case is much worse than yours.

Is it possible that the image quality of AP+FF has been like this from the 
very begining and we didn't notice it before simply because of the poor
resolution of film (comparing to DSLR)?
