That's certainly true. I've done the same thing, shooting the same
target multiple times and nights in a row. One night will show tons
more than another even though limiting stellar magnitudes will be
similiar. Personlly, I don't care. If I can see all the the Little
Dipper stars, I'm going to open a shutter. If that last star is a
little hard to see then I may shoot open clusters or globs.
