Re: [APML] OT: AutoStitch Panorama, La Silla's Airdrome

Hi Carlos,

I observed at ESO La Silla (3.6m telescope) in March 2001...it really is
a world-class site for seeing and dark skies, although some of our
nights were surprisingly cloudy and humid. We flew non-stop from Shannon
to Santiago, chilled out at the ESO guesthouse for a couple of nights,
then flew to La Serena, and finally got the big ESO jeep up into the
mountains. I don't remember seeing an airdrome at La Silla...maybe we
didn't pass it on the way. It was my first view of southern hemisphere
skies, and they were awesome before the waning moon rose. But as my time
was occupied with setting up and running our TRIFFID-2 camera on the
3.6m, I took no night-sky photos - I just did some sweeping around with
binoculars. I'd love to return to Chile sometime.
