Hi Brian

The kill switch makes life easier than a power on switch, you don't have
to hold your hand on the button all of the time.  :^)
In a pinch if you find a local Ham operator you may be able to get him
to modify the power inverter. Some of the cheaper ones use a simple RC
timer circuit that can have a pot added to give you a variable
frequency.
Or if it happens to be crystal controlled and uses a 4Mhz crystal
dropping in a TV colour burst crystal will put you fairly close in
frequency.

The negative was scanned with a Polaroid SS4000 and the only work I did
in Photoshop was levels and a bit of curves. I made no attempt at
removing gradients caused by the moon. I want to study the negative more
and compare it to my previous shot before I attempt any gradient
correction.
