Re: [APML] new 135mm shot preview: Rosette and Cone
Hi Stuart!

I don't think so. It needs more contrast to reveal all the inner structures, but it term of brightness I'm quite satisfied. It is much much brighter than the other nebulosities in the image, and I like to reflect those differences in my images.

Yes, a star shaping technique is a must. I guess that I went too far with deconvolution or wavelets.
I'll try a less invasive, but more complex, technique to recover the shape and colors: make a suitable mask with wavelets (end with only the stars... disable all the medium/large scales and use a deringing value as large as you can). This will protect all the nebulosities. Then, I'll apply a minimun filter of a nearly 10% amount several times (8 times). Later, curves will do the job of fine tunning the color saturations. The last step is a deconvolution, or wavelets, to sharpen the stars a bit and increase the brightness of the core. This is a need if the stars get a opaque look.
Thank you very much for the feedback!

Carlos Milovic F.
