AW: [APML] Widefield in Cassiopeia: Heart and Soul Nebulae in [SII],Ha and [OIII]
Hi Richard,
very interesting. I've been watching your work with great interest
because these narrowband image nicely show the different emissions in
different wavelength. Especially they show that in most HII regions
there is a lot of OIII emission that is not taken care of in many
L(Ha)RGB images of such objects. However I find the colors of your
images extremly disgusting ;-), but that is not your fault, but just a
matter of my personal taste and the same is true for the Hubble images
in these colors. From a technical point of view I find your images
perfect.
Best regards
Andreas

[SII],Ha and [OIII]
This is the final result of my nearly two year quest to take a tricolor
narrowband shot of the Heart and Soul (fetus?) nebulae in Cassiopeia.
http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/ic1805_200mm_6303_s2hao3_page.htm
This is a total of 6 hours and 50 minutes exposure over two nights.
Also included is a map of the area, it is indeed rich in named nebulae
and clusters.
there is a small hydrogen-rich nebula toward the center, just east of
IC1805. Does anyone know what its name is?
I've consulted my usual references including the Millennium Star Atlas
with no luck.
The image was taken using a medium format Pentax Takkumar 200mm f/4 lens
used wide open and attached to my Finger Lakes IMG6303E camera. I took
30 minute exposures for Halpha and [SII} and intended to do for [OIII]
but made a mistake and shot 20 minute Oxygen exposures instead.
The palette is [SII] = Red, Ha = Green, [OIII] = Blue, the normal
wavelength-ordered palette used in the Hubble Pillars of Creation.
