Re: [APML] More bad film news (Other options)

APML'ers:

Although considering testing other films to replace Tech Pan is, perhaps, a good idea.
I think it doubtful that one will be found.
Why not attempt to convince Kodak to keep Tech Pan in it's line up?
I don't think Kodak has any idea the importance of the film to astrophotographers.
It may be a long shot, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

When it was discovered that Kodak had set dates for the discontinuance of Tech Pan, there was some activity on this list, but nearly as much as I expected. Kodak contact information was posted so they could be contacted in an attempt to convince them to keep Tech Pan, but there seemed to be very little response to this.

Perhaps Tech Pan isn't really important to astrophotographers?
Perhaps everyone is using color emulsions?
Perhaps everyone is quietly moving to 'the dark side'?
Then perhaps Kodak is right in discontinuing it.

If we don't appeal to Kodak, those that have never used Tech Pan will never get the chance.
Those of us that use Tech Pan will have to search for a lesser replacement or retire equipment that Tech Pan is perfect for, such as Schmidt cameras.

Here is the contact info again:
