I know! I had many troubles to use ST-4. But now it works great.
I use a EQ6 mount with Skysensor2000PC but the periodic error is not a great
problem and the ST-4 coorect automatically the backlash.
In my web site, only in italian, I put a page how I work with my ST-4.
I hope it helps you.

My guide scope is a Antares Marte 3 (refractor 102/500) with a aluminium
focuser.
I have only the original rings so I cannot tilt it to search a star but I
work. :-)))
A friend of mine will do a couple of new rings so I'll be able to tilt the
guidescope.
If you want to write me in pvt ... you can, off course.
