RE: [APML] M7 to the Butterfly Cluster
Nicola, it isnt as bad as you think! First, I use a home brew roll film
holder made of a paper clip. This allows me to use one empty canister as
the take up spool, and the other as the source. As I advance the film,
about six inches at a time, I can get about 12 shots on a 36 exposure roll.
Then I suck the film back into the original cartridge by loosening the film
holder and cut off the leader. Walmart processing for $1.65 better than
anything I can do at home, and thats Ive proven time again. The negs are
developed, but not cut and not printed. Then I scan them into my Nikon Crap
Scan LS2000, and work with them. As far as the film going away, nearly all
pictures taken today are with those disposable cardboard cameras. They out
number both 35mm and digital combined for sales. Film isnt going away, and
maybe if were lucky, neither will some of the current red films such as E200
or Konica 400!

Hi Chris,
there are two things which keep me away from doing this: the battle between
film and digital and the progressive death of all red sensitive films on the
long run (sad to say). I also read that using a schmidt camera is very
difficult, because you need to cut the single pieces of film and doing
everything in the dark. Moreover I'd need to develop the film myself as no
photoshop here would develop single frames. This is too much of a burden as
far as I can see, unfortunately. For me the disadvantages overcome the
advantages.
regards,
Nicola
