Not sure I'd fully agree with that (the balance being "too red"). This 
is a heavily reddened area of the Milky Way - the dust between us and 
the galactic bulge absorbs and scatters more blue light than red. And 
the bulge stars themselves are mainly orange and red giants. So it looks 
about right to me.
