You don't have to go so far , just go on the north of Quebec province like James Bay at Radisson ( Chisasibi ) 
http://tinylink.com/?MVOp131Vxd ( just zoom out gradualy to see where is it from your location ) and you'll have nearly the same conditions than central Canada. But Alaska is the best place on this Blue Ball !!!
 
I have a friend who live in Chisasibi and one day I'll visit him in winter ;) It's 15 hours by car for me then it's 9 hours more for you :)

Here are my images from the auroral display back on July 26th/27th.

I could detect no color visually in the early display on the evening of the
26th or later that night (the27th) but was delighted to see the Provia 400F
picked up an intense blue. This is the first blue aurora I've captured.

So far I've logged seven displays since moving back here to New England in
summer 2002. I have to say, trying to capture them is very addictive....
but can see how you guys in Canada would get annoyed at 'em....
