[APML] Digital resolution vs. film grain?
Hi All,
Long time since I've participated in this group. My father-in-law, an
avid photographer, and I were discussing digital photography, and he was
wondering if anyone knows of a chart or comparison list that would compare
pixel resolution (in megapixel) with the grain quality of certain film
speeds, etc. For instance, 3 megapixel is comparable to 25 speed ektachrome
(I have no idea if this is right, it was just an example). What we're
trying to figure out is when you enlarge the prints to, say 20"x24", which
is going to look better, a 35mm negative shot at 200 speed color, or a
4megapixel digital photo...
Any help would be appreciated. We also welcome opinions and speculations...
thanks,
Frank
