Tent space at Bahia Honda for five daze - $118.00... Gasoline to travel on -
$125.00... Eat fresh, gourmet seafood all week long - $100.00... Photographs
and memories - *priceless* !!!

Errr... you obviously don't understand the conditions of the atmosphere
there... It's the *lack* of topography that makes it work! With everything at
or near sea level, the atmosphere calms way down... the air flow is laminar
at all levels of the atmosphere on many nites!
This is like a 12 mi. thick piece of perfectly polished optical window
glass... seeing is frequently sub arc-second - all year round! The islands of
the Bahamas, Carribean and Cuba stop the Atlantic's big waves from ever
reaching FL's Key Islands... point-break city... as far as the eye can see!
Not a surfers paradise... but incredible for astronomy!
The *only* reason a major observatory has never been constructed there is
the inevitable Hurricanes and Tropical Storms... standing 10' above sea level
when a 20' storm surge driven by 160 mph winds approaches is not a pleasant
thought. Paradise has it's price, too.
I just hope for some transparency while I'm there... this time of year, it
can go either way. If it's clear... it *will* be steady... Mars isn't going
to wait either way!
Best...
