I imagine Hawaii, up on Mauna Kea, would be even better for film if you
could afford the trip--Mars would be a bit higher, and you could get above
a bit more of that pesky atmosphere than you can in the Keys . . . . what
are the elevation options down there in FL--exit ramps? <g>

Ok, maybe that is a better statement. ;-)
One of the things about the webcam or CCD is the short exposures, I
remember shooting Saturn and Jupiter on ISO100 film and doing 2-7 second
exposures at long f/ratios with my C8. That's a long time for the seeing
to
muck up an image.
I'm sure you can get very good results from a location like the Keys on a
ultra fine grain film like Velvia or Provia 100.
