It's not so bad when you get a show like this - it's almost like seeing
the Grand Canyon for the first time. There is so much going on, film cannot
capture it. I just wish there was an "off" switch for the less impressive
displays! Even when the aurora has finished, airglow will kill your
exposures for a night or two. Just another year or two before we approach
solar minimum.... :-) (then we can see zodiacal light again!)

I agree with you. The last thing I wanted to see when I drove 3 hours
to photograph was an aurora. Fortunately it is a rare event down here.
I don't even like having Venus in the sky or seeing the zodiacal light!
