Re: [APML] EQ6 Mount

In my experience you would better off in the long run with a Losmandy G11 mount. If you can afford it get yourself on Astro-Physics mount list for a 900 goto or 1200 goto mount. Another choice of mount that people have been successful with is the mountain instruments mounts. Last there is that Software Bisque mount at 11k. If all this seems a bit much just about everyone has started out with junk mounts and gone through ringer trying to make em work. Even the lowly Vixen DX mount is better than the EQ-6 has much lower periodic error. The EQ-6 is really not designed for heavy duty APing. Last you can always go it alone buy a 10 or 11 inch byers gear and make yourself an AP mount. I've seen a couple examples in the last few mount's one guy had a byers 11 inch gear and tangent arm for the DEC contracted out locally to have the machine work done. Had a six or eight inch Newt with a ST10 doing the pictures. and of course guiding as well.
