Re: [APML] CCD on APML (was: NGC 7331)
Hi all,
I have read these threads with great interest. I am really on the
fence with the CCD discussions. On one hand, I love to see the work that you
ccd'ers are doing. I have long admired Robert Gendlers photos and was just
completely awe-struck at Tony's latest NGC7331 image. What I have come up
with is that the only real difference between film and CCD is the medium
that the light is gathered on. This is the point at which the two will have
totally different set of problems. You still need to guide, you still need
accurate polar alignment, you still need to post process.
I guess that my suggestion would be as follows:
Since this is a FILM only list (at this time anyway), discussions on how you
compile your image should be taken off to private emails. How you build your
LRGB image is of no use to someone shooting film. I'm sorry, but I just
can't seem to find anyway that it would relate to what it is that I do. You
don't have issues such as sky fog limits, film failure, moisture problems,
etc. Blooming is not a film issue.
I am in now way trying to make this offensive or combative. I just see that
there are some differences. Again, I admire everones work on this list....I
know how much you all put into your images, whether it be film or ccd.
Just my opion and you know what opinions are like....
