For the most part, this is mostly true. CCDs are not just science
fiction anymore, they're a viable alternative to film. My recent foray
into CCD imaging showed me that not only is that ST-7Ei big and HEAVY,
but the computer and the extra wires, cables, software and everything
that goes with it is still in my future, not the present. I did keep
the laptop though. I may try to hook the ST-4 to it someday.

The moral here, at least for me is: if we don't pay at least a little
attention to what is happening on "the dark side", we're not really
keeping pace with is happening in our hobby as a whole. Now I know some
won't like that, so I'll say that this is strictly my opinion. Which is
usually worth about 2 cents. :-)
