I'd rather say 'Why not both mediums?' I am in the process of getting
setup for CCD, but I also am planning on continueing with film, though
usually piggyback. When imaging in my driveway I am severly limited by
light pollution so CCD is probably the best option with short exposures.
But out in the hills away from the lights then film is a good addition. I
like both and will use both mediums.

Tony--perhaps what you ought to say is that film is no longer
the medium of choice for "amateurs" who have $8000 or more to spend on a
dedicated CCD imaging camera.
