RE: [APML] RE: Registering planet RGBs- 2nd time
As Bert pointed out earlier, both Registax and K3CCDTools do a good job of
stacking frames in video (*.avi) files. And, their price is right! (both
free downloads).
After using both for some time, I prefer K3CCDTools - I find the interface
less "quirky", it does not truncate your larger file sizes, the manual
control interface is easier and more intuitive, etc. I use Registax for
wavelets processing after stacking in K3CCDTools. K3 is also an excellent
interface for capturing video with a webcam (ToUCam in my case).
To fix color fringing, bring the stacked images into Photoshop and use the
move tool in the color channels palette. Use the arrow keys to move the
color channel information one pixel at a time to minimize fringing and
realign the channels.
I also use Photoshop to "stack the stacks". For example, if you have
multiple stacks done in K3 or Registax, or you shoot in different colors (I
shoot separately in Red and Blue light with the webcam), Photoshop channel
mixing and layers allow for combinations and stacking as well.
Good luck with it,
Scott
