Re: [APML] OT:Virus

Brian, Gentlemen, Ladies...

I too have recieved 'bad' e-mails... one was not in
the latest definitions from Norton's, my 'trusted' AV
provider, and corrupted my hard drive so thoroughly I
thought for a moment I would have to replace it. I lost
*everything* and have just over a month ago started from
scratch. I don't think the e-mail was from this list...
but you really can't say for sure. The KLEZ virus has
it's own e-mailer that uses an address book from a
victim, *but* doesn't necessarily infect the machine it
steals the addresses from! It can also skip a generation
so that tracking... even with expanded headers... is
impossible. Some viruses can transmit without file
attachments or without opening file attachments... you
can pick up some from GIF files by visiting infected web-
sites!

One must not take these things lightly... they can
do serious damage!

There is no gravity... E-MAIL VIRUSES SUCK!

 Sincerely...

 Geoff Powers
