Re: [APML] Survived AstroImage 2002

To APML,
I want to second all that Robert has to say about the AstroImage 2002
conference. it was extremely well run and most interesting for anyone
interested in astrophotography of any kind.

It was a real pleasure for me to meet and talk with Robert. To Robert: Your
talk on Saturday was just fine, even with your sleep depravation. Honestly,
there was so much going on that everyone there had sleep depravation - there
was no time to sleep (hey, we all do our things at night anyway).

I want to let the APML know that Ron Wodaski has a most innovative approach
to image processing using curves in PhotoShop. He really makes it simple,
and easy to understand. I don't think it's in his book yet, but I hope you
all will get a chance to learn his techniques soon. He looks at the image
as a series of zones, and deals with the darker noise and dim areas first.
It makes so much sense when he demonstrates it. It is also very safe,
because the process identifies noise from signal before cutting any data out
of the image.
