If you see too much, could you then plug in the dec motor and let it do
a correction?

If drift align using the st4 with the dec motor unplugged.  It goes 
really quickly and I never have to use an eyepiece all night.  I did
unplug the RA motor once, accidentally.  That didn't work well at all.

Hmm...  A switch on the hand controller that enables/disables 
guider dec corrections.  That would be useful.
