Re: [APML] Re: G-11

Hi Joe:
Now I see why you asked! I never meant to imply that the quality of the two
mounts was "equal." To be more explicit:
1. The G-11 is a very good mount and an excellent *value.* Mine worked very
well out of the box and I have gotten images with it that were fully
satisfactory to me using a refractor at 780 mm focal length and guidescope.
I haven't weighed the total load but I think Gene's comments are right-on.
2. The A-P mount is a work of art and a pleasure to look at as well as to
use. It is easily worth the extra cost to me. I haven't checked the rated
carrying capacity of the two mounts but from using the two, I would guess
that the 900 would carry *much* more than 10 pounds more than the G-11. The
go-to function is excellent and after a couple of syncs (recals), I can
easily get any target on my CCD chip.
That's the objective part.
Subjectively: I'm quite satisfied with the G-11 but I'm selling it because I
have two other mounts. I *love* my AP-900GTO (and the 1200!).
