The 100,000 galaxies are seen *outside* of NGC 300. But indeed one can see a
couple of dozens right "through" NGC 300 ;)

Unfortunately M51 is too low seen from LaSilla, Chile. The maximum
allowed zenithal distance is 70 degrees, above that the telescope would
get stuck. In order to save lots of time and the mechanics there is a
protection system built in that prevents people from moving the scope
by purpose beyond 70 degrees.
But I agree, a deep shot of M51 with this instrument would be great.
