Herm and I were in the Everglades Sat. night /Sun. morning and saw, probably
10 or so from midnight to 2:30am, and then the clouds rolled in.

This is very, very sad news. I have been a big fan of Galen's images, and,
more importantly, his personal philosophy and environmental ethic. I have
enjoyed for years his monthly articles in Outdoor Photographer. They have
always had an intellectual and philosophical approach, which I find a
refreshing change from the usual pablum.
This is a tragic loss to nature photographers everywhere.
