I saw a few last night when I was making general images.  One was 
particularly long and beautiful.  Most of the time when the shutter was 
open, I was looking at my watch and the crank handle of a barn door tracker 
so I don't know if I got any Perseids on film or not.  I may very have 
gotten some aircraft though.

Galen wrote a piece in National Geographic in 1974 that was about climbing 
in Yosemite without pitons.  It made a big impression on me about 
innovation and sensitivity to the environment.  This is very sad news indeed.
