The 17.5" has better contrast
but not the light grasp... what struck me, though, was that there wasn't THAT
much difference between the two scopes... the Veil in the 17.5" blew me away...
he was using an O III filter with (I think) a 22mm Nagler... it looked like it
was lit up like a light bulb.
You will be able to pump up the power on a 22" more
than a 17.5" due to the light grasp... but aesthetically the views in the
17.5" were superb... it's probably the best "portable" scope out there for the
money and then some. More than anything, it is the night that lets you see what
you will see... once you get past 16" it will be the most
important limiting factor. I have had plenty of nights when the 25" was
useless... only a very few nights allowed it to reach its
potential.
