[APML] 48 Inch Schmidt Telescopes

Does anyone know the status of the two big Schmidt telescopes that took the 
images for the Palomar Sky Survey?

Are they still operational and shooting film, or have they been converted 
to CCD?

Anybody know what size film plates they used to shoot when they shot film?
